Leann and Justin are still in the hospital, I'm planning on taking her home today if possible.
Hospitals are a very traumatic place to be in, especially the non-postpartnum area.
You get all kinds of weird people screaming and stuff, I don't know how she handles it.
Anyway, Justin will probably be out by the end of the week, Leann should be out much sooner.

Justin had some minor jaundice, so they put him under a light made with blue and red LEDS that supposedly breaks bilirubin down. It looks like it works.
He is doing better on being able to feed without a nose-tube. Once he gets the hang of it he should be ok to go home.

He's out and kicking! I have to get sleep so I will keep this post short.

True Labor (I think)

Leann was up a lot last night, neither of us got much sleep.
She just called me, says the pain is mostly in the back and a little in the front.
Also, she's having some spotting and the contractions (at least from what I can tell by her voice) are stronger than ever.

I think it's almost time. She is getting her cousin to drive her to KP Hayward and once the doctor checks her cervix for dilation, she will call me.

If it's "true labor", I will take off from work immediately, pack a bag with necessary stuff, and get to the hospital.

Back from the Hospital

We got back from the hospital around 5:30 PM or so...Leann went straight to bed after being sick.
Dinner was fried rice, the irises are blooming! The white one is closing up, but there are 2 new purple ones starting to flower.
Purple Iris
I've been feeding Leann de-fizzed Sprite (put it in a cup and stir it till its flat) to settle her stomach. I hope she can eat more soon, oh well.

Seeing as how it looks like the baby might be coming out sometime soon, I decided to start planning a "birth bag". I'll also install the car seat when I get home today after picking her up.

Here's what I think a birth bag should contain (in order of importance):
1) Extra clothes for Dad, toiletries for both.
2) Baby clothes (!)
3) Camcorder w/charger and 1 extra tape.
4) Snacks to munch on (when you don't feel like walking to the hospital cafeteria).
5) Digital Camera w/charger.
6) Laptop with power adapter (to watch movies on, and make entries to be later added to blog).
7) Small selection of DVDs/Xvid movies to watch (every watched Hospital TV? ugh...).
8) An old, comfortable book (Ender's game or LOTR trilogy softback).
9) Maybe a neck pillow.

Don't forget to leave comments!

Update on BH-contractions

Called Leann, turns out the contractions are most likely Braxton-Hicks contractions. Definition:
"Labor contractions are noticeably longer as well as more regular, frequent, and painful than Braxton Hicks. Also, labor pains will increase in frequency, duration, and intensity as time goes on, while Braxton Hicks remain unpredictable and nonrhythmic. "

Sounds about right...although Leann can probably clarify for me.
They said her cervix isn't dilated yet, and it doesn't look like it's "true" labor.
She's also on an IV, we joked a little about how cold it feels (it's like pumping ice water through your veins, and it really chills you).

They want to keep her at KP-Hayward for a few more hours for observation and just to make sure. I'll go pick her up when she's ready.
I wanted to go sit with her and wait, but her mom's there, and it probably wouldn't do any good.

Braxton-Hicks contractions?

Last night Leann was up almost all night (which means I was too) due to pains in her stomach.
I went to work at the usual time (6:20 AM), and just now she scheduled an appointment at KP Hayward because of the pain.
